Long Term Care in Saskatoon
Saskatchewan boasts 280 long term care facilities with a population of 8600 residents. Slightly more than 10% of those facilities are in Saskatoon. Many of the senior citizens in these homes are fairly well-off, due to the fact that Saskatoon is above the mean in general wealth.
In the near future however, as baby boomers age, the number of people needing to enter long term care is predicted to double. At the top end of long term care insurance coverage, $300 per day of tax-free benefits can be had. The criteria to be able to begin collecting are that the covered individual has lost the ability to perform two of six clearly defined daily living activities.
